Israeli Peace Plan

Editor's Note
I think we are rapidly being reprogrammed to a very alarming mindset. It is a dichotomous world with sharp edges and deadly consequences. To some extent, this is the threat of fundamentalism of all kinds. Things are black and white and the consequences of being on the wrong side are swift and harsh. The attraction of fundamentalism is that it is perceived as “simple” and eliminates the complexities of a “modern” world. Fundamentalism also is generally hierarchical and the person (generally male) has tremendous power to make decisions. If there are complexities, it is HIM (or a collectivity of hims) who will make a (wise) choice.

‘Text Me You Haven’t Died’ – My Sister was the 166th Doctor to Be Murdered in Gaza

Editor's Note
I first started publishing the writings of Ramzy Baroud in 2007. We have had many interactions and I consider him a friend. So when he penned the following piece it struck my heart hard and I needed to sit with this pain that has so many ramifications. I wish I could reach across the miles and grasp the hand of my friend, to provide an earthly connection and pour my love and support into his heart. I know that nothing can heal this wound that cuts to the soul.

Israel Destroys Gaza and Palestine and Arab Leaders Lost the Future

While leaders may be slow to act, the people of the world continue to make their wishes known – ceasefire NOW! However, Israel plays a strategic role for Western nations, particularly the US, in the Middle East. Conflict between Arab nations is lucrative for the world’s largest arms dealer (the USA), and maintaining peace between Israel and its Arab neighbors is important as it is Iran (and the triumvirate of Iran, China, and Russia) that requires Israel as the nuclear foil of US’ Middle East “peace plan”. It is this crucial role that requires a global balancing act while atrocities are the daily experience of Gazans and Palestinians. So the US supplies arms to Israel (largely for its conflict with Iran) which Israel chooses to use in its “war” with Hamas. However, it is difficult to call it a “war” with the complete lack of parity between the two. Then for Netanyahu to claim this is a war between “civilization and barbarism”.  I don’t even know where to start to untangle that bit of tripe. When one party has completely decimated the infrastructure of the other party, and the controlling party controls everything going into and out of that party of the other, and it continues to bomb the other’s region into rubble so small that the atomized dust is a significant health problem, who is the barbarian?

‘Complete Madness’: Israel Blocks Food Aid as More Gaza Children Starve to Death

Editor's Note
As was true when Trump separated children from their parents at the border, “cruelty is the policy”, the same can be said of Israel’s choices in pursuing retribution against Hamas (purportedly). The United States and other nations helping Israel in pursuit of this war are equally guilty. This must stop now! But even if it did, thousands of noncombatants will die before humanitarian aid and critical infrastructure are restored. That is the sad and brutal truth.

Editor's Note
The problems of today, in any nation on the planet, have their roots in history – in decisions made and paths taken. It is a particularly apt time to look closely at colonization. We can think of it simplistically as a pattern in the past whereby certain nations, through a combination of practices, subdued and attempted to supplant the indigenous peoples of lands the supplanters desired. That combination of processes was not singular. There was the outright use of military force; there was the withholding of food and access to survival (in combination known as genocide); there were attempts to destroy the culture, language, and spirituality (known as cultural genocide). However, colonization is not simply a process that is engaged in by the colonizer on those to be colonized. It also requires fundamental changes in the hearts, minds, and ways of being of the colonizers themselves.
